NVSINSTANCEHOOK EXCEL 2010 64 BIT TRIAL
But he had no firm idea for a solution other than trial and error as he changed all my security settings. As I helplessly watched what he was doing to my computer it was obvious that he thought the Trust Center and/or the macro settings were My computer, as if he could solve the problem if only he didn't have me in the way. The rep insisted on sending a file to take control of I got India, a fine country whose residents speak English with varying degrees of difficulty. One more thing, sometime back I had called Microsoft support as indicated in the Office package. I am forced to repeatedly save every file in every availableįormat in hopes that in the event of a crash something will open. I have come to the inescapable conclusion that 64-bit Excel is just generally unstable and not ready for primetime. Then I recreated the file and hit F4 and there was no problem at all. When I was working on a file for about an hour I hit F4 while modifying a formula and it crashed immediately! I'm hoping someone on this board knows something about a fix for this apparent bug.Ī file can be updated uneventfully every day for five days, then on the sixth day it crashes and is unable to be opened henceforth. I ran macros in these same files for a long time in Excel 2007 with no problem. I believe this is an only an issue with 64-bit Excel. Save the new workbook and it opens and closes henceforth uneventfully. One workaround I found is if you finally get the file open again, copy all the data and formulas to another "fresh" workbook, leaving the macros behind. It seems to "remember" that it once had a macro. Save it and try to reopen you get the same error message (almost all of the time). If you get the workbook open and delete all the macros, xlsb file that contains a macro (not auto-executing), Excel returns the message "Microsoft Excel has stopped working" the file does not open and eventually Excel shuts down after trying to recover.Ĭomplicating the issue: this does not happen 100% of the time but it happens most of the time.
